“THE NEW FREEDOM RIDE”

On Saturday June 21st, the youth of G.Y.O. watched the sunrise in Arizona as they traveled to the world famous GRAND CANYON. They stopped for their 1st breakfast together and began to look forward and prepare for the adventures that lye before them. “There so much positive energy among us,” said Donovan Kilgore (student)... “We all bonded instantly, and the Denny's Food was so GOOD!!!” The day started off on a very good note. The next stop was the National Geographic Visitors Center where G.Y.O. watched the Grand Canyon IMAX Movie.. In this short film, the youth discovered a “Grand Canyon” that would otherwise take a lifetime to experience. The film opens with the beginning of man's fragile kinship with this twisting 277 mile Canyon, then moves the audience through time with brief glimpses at the stone pages of human history. The youth also enjoyed the pictures, maps, and various Souvenirs at the visitors center. The staff was very friendly and very informative.

They then, boarded the Shuttle bus to Mather Point (the southern bank of the Grand Canyon). While on the shuttle, several tourists and even the bus driver inquired about the organization. Student Donovan Kilgore gladly gave them a brief description, and represented G.Y.O. with pride and professionalism...
The youth were Amazed at the vastness of this monumental landmark. It was an inspirational display of greatness and a perfect beginning to there Cross country 30 day excursion...
